Road rage: Woman dragged, beaten and run over by man in truck in Bratenahl; suspect still at large

Victim's mother witnessed from passenger seat

BRATENAHL, Ohio - Police need help finding a man accused of dragging a woman behind his truck then beating her and running her over before leaving the scene in the Village of Bratenahl.

After a two-vehicle wreck on the Eddy Road overpass above I-90 around 7 p.m. Sunday, police said both drivers, a man and a woman, got out of their respective vehicles and argued with each other.

The male driver tried to drive away from the scene in his pick-up truck when the woman somehow got tangled. He kept driving, dragging the woman, now identified as Gwendolyn Young, a couple hundred feet.

That's when police said  the man got out of his truck at the entrance ramp to I-90 eastbound and began punching Young.

After he beat her, police say he got back into his truck and drove over the her body, leaving the scene. Young is hospitalized in critical condition. Her family is pleading for help and praying for justice. "My sister is fighting, she is fighting for her life," said Young's sister Tenisha Caldwell.

Police said that they have several witnesses, including Young's mother, who was in the passenger's seat.

"Please if you know who he is or you know someone who knows him, please turn this monster in," added Caldwell.

Young was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center. As of Christmas Day, Young was still listed in critical condition.

The suspect is described as a man in his 40s. He’s approximately 6 feet tall, with a medium build and wore blue jeans and a jacket during the offense.

Police said he drove a silver or white full size pick-up truck, possible Chevy Silverado. The vehicle should have front end damage.

"I'm pleading right now, please do the right thing and come forward" said Young's sister Lachelle Edwards
