Two men rescued after speeding car goes airborne, crashes into valley in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Ohio - Lakewood police are investigating after a car went airborne and into a valley in the Cleveland Metroparks early Tuesday morning.

Police said at 3:40 a.m. when an officer tried to stop a Porsche, it sped away, leading the officer on a chase for a few blocks.

A few minutes later, police said they received a call saying a car had gone off the back of the parking lot at an apartment building and landed in the valley.

Witnesses told police they saw the Porsche go by at more than 70 MPH.

Two people were rescued from inside the car, according to officers. One was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center and the other to Fairview Hospital, both with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the driver, whose name has not yet been released, was cited for OVI and additional charges could follow.
