PARMA, Ohio - A couple was arrested for a methamphetamine lab fire at a Parma apartment, police said.
Firefighters were called to Knollwood Drive on Feb. 22 for smoke coming from an apartment leased by 19-year-old Amber Darrow. Parma police said no one was home, but a small fire was in the bedroom.
Crews noticed chemicals associated for making meth, and the case was turned over to police and a HAZMAT team. While the lab was cleaned up, residents in neighboring apartments were evacuated.
Darrow and 22-year-old Bryan Kneuss were charged with illegal manufacture of drugs, assembly of chemicals for manufacture of drugs and possession of criminal tools. Both were taken to the Cuyahoga County Jail.
The two were found hiding at a hotel in Macedonia under a fake name, police said.
