A Cleveland Browns player was arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol around 2:15 a.m. Christmas morning after a traffic stop on I-71 SB in Brook Park, according to a citation obtained by newsnet5.com.
Cleveland Browns General Manager Ray Farmer also confirmed the arrest in a statement.
Browns defensive back De’Ante Saunders was the driver and linebacker Armonty Bryant was the passenger, OSP said.
According to the traffic citation, Saunders was cited for going 75 MPH in a 60 MPH zone.
Saunders was also cited for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the citation.
Though Armonty Bryant was not arrested or charged, OSHP officials said he was in possession of Adderall. It will be determined by the Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office if he will face charges.
Dr. Martin Moore, counselor and mediator at Moore Counseling and Mediation Services spoke about why Bryant may have been in possession of Adderall. "One of the things it could do, it could cause an increase in performance. It does act as a stimulant in the body much like cocaine. So it causes a person's performance to increase a short period of time," Moore said.
The Highway Patrol said there was also a concealed handgun with no permit. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office will decide on charges in that case.
Saunders is due in court Monday.
Farmer said in a statement that Armonty will be inactive Sunday during the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in order for him to handle this situation legally.

These are charges that we take very seriously. The importance of responsible decision-making is something we continually stress to all members of our organization, which makes it extremely disappointing that these two individuals would put themselves in this situation by making such poor decisions.
Armonty will be inactive on Sunday for our game against the Chiefs and will not travel with the team to Kansas City so he can tend to this personal legal matter.
In addition to being a pending legal matter, this incident is subject to the NFL personal conduct policy and we have no further comment at this time.
