PARMA, Ohio - A Cuyahoga Community College employee was arrested and charged with stealing $50,000 in computers and computer hardware and selling them.
Gregory Wallace, 41, of Cleveland, was charged with felony theft. Police said he worked in the information technology department at Tri-C and stole more than a dozen brand new iMacs, several HP computers, a Smart board and other equipment. Police said he kept some equipment and gave the rest to other people who would sell them.
The people who police believe sold the equipment are also expected to be charged.
Wallace was placed on administrative leave from Tri-C in June after the Parma Police Department contacted them regarding the investigation, the college wrote in a statement. Wallace resigned Aug. 6.
The college also conducted a physical inventory of computer equipment and reviewed its processes for purchases for purchasing, deployment and disposal of computers and other technological devices.
