Thousands lose power in parts of Cuyahoga County after apparent water main break

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio - Thousands of FirstEnergy customers in Cuyahoga County were without power Monday morning after an apparent water main break.

The Cleveland Water Department said a 10-inch water main on Euclid Avenue near Nela Avenue broke around 5 a.m.

FirstEnergy said it appeared the break flooded their East Cleveland substation, causing an outage.

About 8,000 customers were affected in parts of East Cleveland, Cleveland Heights and South Euclid.

Just before 11 a.m., FirstEnergy said service to all but 11 customers was restored.
