NORTH RANDALL, Ohio - The state's second racino is set to open April 9.
The new Thistledown Racino in North Randall, southeast of Cleveland, is a thoroughbred race track that will open with more than 1,000 new video lottery terminals that function like slot machines.
In January, Rock Ohio Caesars said it was investing up to $88 million to transform the main building at the track into a video slots parlor, complete with specialty restaurants and food court.
It will be the second of seven planned racinos to open in the state. Scioto Downs opened last year south of Columbus.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Thistledown officials announced the opening date Monday during a presentation before the Ohio Lottery Commission, which is overseeing the addition of the video slots terminals.
