The following roads are closed due to flooding caused by heavy rain and severe storms overnight Friday into early Saturday morning:
-Lake Shore Blvd. near Erie is closed due to flooding
-Eastlake Police remind residents if there is flooding in basements do not attempt to walk through the water until it has receded. As always, if there is any odor of natural gas or visible smoke or sparking outlets etc. call 9-1-1. ONLY the very elderly and handicapped will receive assistance from the service department as needed to aid with any flooding. They will need to call dispatch and be placed on a waiting list to be assisted as soon as possible. Any ruined belongings/debris due to flooding can be placed on tree lawns for pick up by service sometime during the week, prior to regular garbage pick up dates.
-River Road from Sherman road to Chagrin Valley Nursery.
-Mayfield Road Eastbound from West Hill to Chagrin River road (due to down trees and lines)
- The SR 44 northbound entrance ramp to SR 2 eastbound is closed. Motorists should use SR 2 westbound to SR615 to SR 2 eastbound.
- The right lane on US 20 east and westbound between Dock Rd and County Line Rd.
- The City of Mentor is experiencing severe flooding problems as a result of a significant rainfall. Many roads throughout the City are impassable and closed including Bellflower Road, Route 306 at the railroad underpass (near Mentor Avenue), and Hart Street. Many of the City's smaller residential streets have also flooded and are closed to traffic. Mentor City Officials are urging all residents to limit non-essential travel on city streets and encouraging those who must drive in the City, to utilize caution due to standing water on many roads.
-Portions of SR 615 has flooding near Tyler Blvd and the SR 2 underpass. Police have one lane in each direction blocked off. Drivers are urged to drive slowly or avoid the area entirely if possible.
-as of 11:45am Saturday the Mentor Police Department reports the water is receding and most of the roads are now open. There may be still be some standing water on streets.
-The service department is out clearing storm sewer ditches and grates. Also the Fire Department may be able to assist if your basement is flooding. Contact dispatch non-emergency line if you have a concern because of the heavy rain at (440) 257-7234.
-The water main break on Marine has been repaired overnight.
-Parts of Vrooman Road
-Route 2 is closed Westbound at Lost Nation Road and Eastbound at Vine St.
-Hammound Parkway off Euclid is closed.
-Bidler Road from Euclid to Reading Road is closed.
-Vine Street East and West is closed.
-(as of 11:45am) All roadways in the city have been cleared of high water however a small portion of White RD remains closed between SOM Center and Rockefeller due to a tree limb that took down some power lines.
