NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio - A person has turned himself in to police in connection with the hit-skip death of a North Olmsted teenager last week.
During a brief news conference Friday, North Olmsted police said a male surrendered. They would not say whether the suspect was an adult or juvenile.
In a news release from the department, police said the suspect has been cooperative with investigators and "was remorseful during the interview."
Police said the suspect took detectives to his car where investigators collected evidence. The person has not been arrested.
After the lab results are evaluated police said they will meet with the city prosecutor to see if any charges should be filed.
"Because of the media coverage, the subject realized the extent of the accident and decided to come forward after speaking with an attorney," police said in the release.
Police said 15-year-old Bruce-Malik Wayne Adams was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing Brookpark Road between Great Northern Boulevard and Columbia Road last Thursday night. The scene is near the Great Northern Mall.
Several people called 911 to report the teen's body in the road. Police had asked the public for help in finding who hit the boy.
Adams was a sophomore at North Olmsted High School.
