Suspect arrested in Maple Heights shooting

A man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man multiple times in Maple Heights and fled the scene on Saturday, police said. 

According police, officers responded to the 18200 block of Mapleboro Avenue at around 9:45 a.m. for a reported shooting. 

When officers arrived at the scene, a 25-year-old man was found laying on the street with multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect had already left the area. 

The victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland with "several" non-life threatening wounds, authorities said. 

After further investigation into the incident, police pinpointed a suspect, 26-year-old Treavon Johnson, and later found Johnson In Garfield Heights that same day while conducting a traffic stop. The suspect was arrested without incident. 

Police said Johnson has been charged with attempted murder and will be arraigned in Garfield Heights Municipal Court on Monday.

No other suspects are sought in connection with the shooting. However, anyone with further information about the incident is asked to call Maple Heights Police at 216-587-9637.
