PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio - A student at Valley Forge High School in Parma Heights was arrested for allegedly bringing a fake weapon to school.
According to the Parma City School District, school officials learned about a student in class having a fake weapon. Parma Heights police took the student into custody and found the fake weapon in his possession.
The student was then taken to the police department for processing.
The district said that at no time were any students or staff in danger.
Parma Heights police released a photo of the fake weapon, which resembles a handgun.
"The Parma City School District thanks its staff, administration, and the Parma Heights Police Department for responding quickly and for following the policies and procedures to ensure the safety of our students," said spokeswoman Erin Gadd in a news release."We continue to emphasize with our students and staff to report anything suspicious to ensure a safe learning environment."
The student was suspended 10 days and will be recommended for expulsion, the district said.
