CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga County Prosecutor released a biting statement Wednesday morning following the death of convicted Cleveland rapist and kidnapper Ariel Castro.
"These degenerate molesters are cowards. They con and capture vulnerable children. This man couldn't take, for even a month, a small portion of what he had dished out for more than a decade."
"Let this be a message to other child kidnappers: There will be a heavy price to pay when you are caught. You won't enjoy the captive side of the bars."
Castro was found hanged in his prison cell Tuesday night.
Prison medical attempted to revive Castro using life-saving tactics but their efforts failed.
He was transported to Ohio State Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections is actively investigating the incident.
