'Share the Road' fundraiser held to raise money for Cleveland Hts. cyclist hurt in hit, run accident

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio - Tons of people attended an event Sunday to raise money for a Cleveland Heights woman who was hit by a vehicle while cycling.

The "Share the Road" fundraiser was held at Nighttown on Cedar Road in Cleveland Heights to help pay for Mindy Manyo's living and medical expenses and to raise awareness of cyclist on the road.

Manyo, 56, was struck by a vehicle on October 3rd while riding her bicycle on Fairmount Boulevard near the intersection of Lee Road. The driver of the vehicle dragged Manyo, then sped off and is still at large.

Manyo was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center to be treated for multiple fractures and internal injuries.

Even though Manyo is still recovering at the hospital, she was able to appear at the event via Skype to give a couple of words.

"Share the road. We can do this. We can really do this. I know we can do this. It just can't be trendy anymore to talk on the phone or be distracted with whatever is going on inside your car," said Manyo.

People in attendance enjoyed live music and a silent auction.

Those who couldn't attend can make donations at any Fifth Third Bank in Mindy Manyo's name.
