Shaker Heights Police are looking for a man said to be driving a royal blue Ford Escape with silver trim. According to police reports, the man tried to lure children into his vehicle with candy. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon in the 21000 block of Rye Road.
“We were probably about 10 feet away or five feet away,” said 8-year-old, Tristane McDermott.
Tristane’s mother, Yvonne McDermott said she stepped outside moments before the driver of the SUV passed by a third time.
“It’s a shame that we have to be so guarded, but I want people to know,” said McDermott. “I catch myself looking for that color combination of the car as well.”
Police said the encounter is attempted child enticement.
