Dozens of jackets, hundreds of socks and lots of other winter gear is now headed to local shelters to help the homeless.

Second District police officers just wrapped up a three week drive on Sunday to help keep the homeless warm this winter. The police officers are thanking the community for their generosity.

Sgt. Mitch Sheehan started the clothing drive last year.

"I think it's a great way that the Second District police department and the community can work together to solve a problem," Sheehan said.

The donated items will be distributed to shelters in the second district area.
