A former Pepper Pike police officer was arrested in Bedford on charges of rape and menacing by stalking, Bedford Police report.

Jeffrey Martin, 55, of Bainbridge, was arrested by Bedford detectives and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Monday.

Martin resigned from the department in 2014 after he was accused of using his position to solicit a woman, Pepper Pike Police Chief Michael Cannon said.

Police allege that Martin also stalked another woman, following her to Whole Foods and lying to Ursuline College security to get onto campus and follow the woman there.

Martin started as an officer in Pepper Pike in 1991 and worked for the East Cleveland police department for five years before that, Cannon said.

Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Martin is asked to call 440-232-3408.
