CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Task Force for Community Mobilization is holding a community event in Cleveland Thursday night to remember a little girl murdered 10 years ago.
Shakira Johnson, 11, went missing in September 2003. It is one of the biggest murder cases in Cleveland.
After being missing a month, her body was found Oct. 17, 2003 in a Cleveland field at East 71st Street and Aetna. That location was 30 blocks from her home.
A man was arrested in connection with the case. In 2004, but a jury found him not guilty.
Thursday night at 6 p.m., community members plan to gather at the York Temple Building on Kinsman Road in Cleveland.
Community advocates plan on attending and will talk about the importance of safety in the neighborhood and what improvements can be made.
