Red left-turn arrows could be coming to an intersection near you

CLEVELAND - Thirty-three spots around northeast Ohio, including six in Cuyahoga County, will catch the attention of drivers, as new stop lights feature red left-turn arrows.

A federal rule change mandated the signal makeover at intersections with left-turn lanes. The Ohio Department of Transportation has started making the update across the state.

The change stems from a 2009 rewrite of The Federal Highway Administration's Manual on uniform traffic control devices.

Drivers cannot turn on red arrows.
