A 37-year-old woman is facing additional charges in connection with the stabbing death of her boyfriend.
Yvonne Davis is accusing of stabbing Aaron Becton, 40, in the chest and shoulder with a kitchen knife at about on Feb. 19 at her home in the 11200 block of Mount Overlook Avenue, police said in a news release.
Becton was taken to University Hospital to be treated for his injuries. He died Monday, five days after the initial stabbing, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
There have been 19 homicides in Cleveland so far in 2017.
A five-page police report gives some insight into what happened. Davis and Becton gave varying stories about what happened, according to the report.
Davis told police, Becton came over to the home "very drunk" and started choking her after pushing her into the kitchen sink. She grabbed the knife and began stabbing Becton until he let go of her.
Officers did not find any marks or scratches around Davis' neck.
Davis cleaned up the blood with bleach following the incident. Several children who were in the home said they heard the couple arguing and kitchen furniture moving, but didn't see anything.
The children were taken by Becton's sister to be cared for.
Police spoke with Becton at the hospital who said Davis invited him over for dinner and drinks. An argument began between the two and Davis threw a glass at him. Becton stood and yelled at Davis, who then grabbed a knife and stabbed him several times before he could fight the knife away from her, police records say.
Becton said his two daughters left their room and said they began to cry when they saw his white T-shirt turn red with blood. He started to feel dizzy and went downstairs to call 911.
Davis appeared in court Tuesday for an arraignment. She was appointed an attorney and was being held on a $25,000 bond. Her case has been bound over to a grand jury.
