CLEVELAND - The search continues Sunday for an armed man who is accused of kidnapping a 35-year-old woman, after shooting his aunt and uncle.
Officers said they were dispatched to the 12300 block of Chesterfield Avenue near E. 125th Street around 9:52 a.m. Saturday for a report of two to three people shot.
Upon arrival, officers were told that a woman had been kidnapped by an adult male suspect.
Cleveland police's preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, Derrick Hudson, 35, shot the two victims and then kidnapped his once girlfriend, Kenya Pierce, 35, at gunpoint.
Police said the male and female shooting victims, Ethel and Andre Munds, who live in the duplex apartment below Pierce, are the aunt and uncle of the suspect. The couple reportedly went upstairs to the check on Pierce after hearing loud noises.
That's when Hudson opened the door and allegedly shot his aunt and uncle. They were transported by ambulance to MetroHealth Medical Center with a gunshot wound the leg and chest. As of Sunday morning, Andre was listed in critical condition; Edna was treated and released, according to hospital officials.
Police said Hudson then held Pierce as a hostage at gunpoint, forcing her into a vehicle, where he fled from the scene.
Photos were released of Hudson and Pierce in hopes of them being located.
"If you see this particular suspect or vehicle in the neighborhoods or street, do not approach the vehicle. The suspect is extremely dangerous and armed," said Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath.
Hudson was last seen in area of E. 105th Street near St. Clair Avenue in a red colored Dodge Magnum vehicle with license plate: FHY 4340. Police say that the vehicle may have damage to both sides.
Police said Hudson has a bald head, is medium build, 5-feet 10-inches tall, weighs around 185 pounds and wore a white tee-shirt and multi colored shorts. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Police said late Saturday that Hudson had been released from prison recently after serving time for manslaughter. Police said he killed the boyfriend of Kenya Pierce.
