Dash cameras show the reckless driving of a fleeing suspect during a police pursuit that started in Wickliffe and ended with a crash East Cleveland early Wednesday.

Police say the driver, at times, reached speeds above 100 mph.

The chase started when an officer tried to pull the car over just before 4 a.m. on Ridgewick Drive in Wickliffe.

Other officers pursued the car as it turned on Euclid Avenue, heading east.

Police said the driver surpassed 100 mph several times as Euclid officers joined in the pursuit.

Police got a break a short time later when the driver pulled to the right side of the road with what appeared to be engine trouble but Euclid police dash cam shows the car backing into one of their cruisers and continuing down the road seconds later.

Speeds continued above 100 mph until the driver entered East Cleveland, lost control of her car, plowed over a fire hydrant and barreled through a McDonalds parking lot.

She was ejected from the vehicle during the roll-over crash, police said.

Wickliffe police said the 40-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, she was upgraded to stable condition.

According to Wickliffe Police Lt. Jon Bush, officers decided to continue to pursue the vehicle because they believed the driver posed a serious threat to the public.
