12 year-old girl caught in crossfire at Cleveland park, shooters at large

CLEVELAND - Police are investigating a shooting Sunday night where a 12-year-old girl was shot at a park during a gun battle.

Police said the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. at Walter A. Burks Park, located in the 11000 block of Grantwood Avenue on Cleveland's east side.

Officers said two men were exchanging gunfire when a bullet struck the 12-year-old in the chest.

The 12-year-old girl was then taken to Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital by a private vehicle.

As of 9:30 p.m., police said the girl was listed in stable condition and was being prepared for surgery.
