Pedestrian hit by RTA bus on Detroit Avenue in Lakewood remains in critical condition

LAKEWOOD - Lakewood Police confirm that a man remains in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center after he was hit by an RTA bus on Monday morning at 5:00 a.m.

Officers said the 46-year-old man was trying to catch a bus on Detroit Avenue as it was pulling away. 

Police said the man  was pounding on the side of the bus trying to gain the bus driver's attention. The driver was unaware and continued to drive off, striking the man, according to officers.

The bus driver continued traveling eastbound on Detroit Avenue not knowing that anyone had been hit.

Lakewood EMS transported the victim from the scene in critical condition.

No charges have been filed against the bus driver. Lakewood police are still investigating.
