CLEVELAND - A Parma man has been charged with defrauding the Cleveland Clinic out of nearly $180,000, prosecutors allege.
Prompted by an unnamed administrator at the Anesthesiology Institute, Richard Zukowski, 49, collected commissions on Clinic nurses whom he did not recruit, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
In exchange for half the money the Clinic paid, the administrator provided 10 names and hiring details to Zukowski so he could submit fraudulent recruiting invoices to collect commission.
The administrator only got about a third of the money, the Attorney's Office adds. Zukowski was charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
The FBI conducted the investigation on this case.
