Parma Heights police pursuit ends in crash in Cleveland

A pursuit that started in Parma Heights ended in a crash in Cleveland Friday night. 

According to Parma Heights police, officers responded to an overdose call at 9989 Newkirk Drive. They found a woman who had overdosed in the bathroom of a home. 

Authorities said the woman is known to Parma Heights police and had been called on before.

The mother of the woman told police the man her daughter buys drugs from was outside. 

Parma Heights police tried to stop the man in a routine traffic stop, but he took off, authorities said. 

During the pursuit, another driver collided with the suspect vehicle at the corner of West 44th Street and Storer Avenue. 

The other driver was not injured. The suspect was sent to University Hospitals Parma for treatment and was later released to Parma Heights Police and is being held at Parma Police Department.

The suspect has been named as Jason Whoolery, 42 of Lakewood. He is currently being held on charges of fleeing and eluding. Police said he may face additional charges.
