A local football star who was was preparing to tryout for the Cincinnati Bengals was indicted Friday on charges related to a fatal shooting outside the Sunny Spot Bar in Cleveland on May 3.
Antonio Longino faces charges of tampering with evidence and obstructing justice, according to Cuyahoga County court records.
The judicial proceedings follow an investigation into the death of Dejon D. Forbes who Cleveland Heights police reported finding in a vehicle outside the bar with an apparent gunshot wound.
He died shortly after being transferred to University Hospital.
A second man, 28-year-old Stephen Johnson, turned himself into Cleveland Heights Police Wednesday evening. He is charged with aggravated murder.
Growing up in his East Cleveland neighborhood was rough for Longino. His seven older brothers were caught up in the mix and some of them spent time in jail, according to NFL.com. The league also notes that Longino attended Hutchinson Community College before going to Arizona State University.
The ASU Sun Devil Athletics website stated Longino, a linebacker, went to Shaw High School.
Longino was not selected in the recent NFL draft but was to report to the Bengals rookie camp as an un-drafted free agent.
