Officer injured in hit-skip accident in Cleveland, driver arrested

CLEVELAND - Police quickly made an arrest Friday night after a Cleveland officer was injured in an accident where the driver fled the scene.

The Cleveland Police Department Fourth District zone car was struck around 10:50 a.m. at E. 93rd Street and Kinsman.The officer was treated and released from MetroHealth Medical Center for injuries sustained during the crash.

Police said the driver of the striking vehicle continued driving after the wreck.

A police officer patrolling in the area of E.116th Street at Kinsman quickly spotted the wanted suspect and took him into custody.

The 24-year-old man was booked into jail, accused of operating a vehicle while under the influence, hit/skip, failure to control and driving without a license. His name was not released.
