Jance Reynolds, 62, Mary Paige Reynolds, 18, identified as victims of Shaker Heights house fire

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio - The man and woman who died early Tuesday morning in a house fire in Shaker Heights have been identified as Jance Reynolds, 62, and Mary Paige Reynolds, 18.

The pair died from smoke inhalation, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office said.

Mary's bus driver, Anthony Murray, said it was part of his routine to stop by the home on Daleford Road.

"They were happy. They were happy to see me every day," said Murray. "The father – I just shook his hand yesterday when I dropped her off."

Tuesday was different. Instead he got a call saying not to pick up the 18-year girl who he said is autistic.

"She's a very beautiful, nice young lady," Murray said

He drove the teen to school every day.

"She'll get on the bus and the first thing she'll say is, ‘Mr. Anthony?' And I'll say, ‘Yes.' And she'll say, ‘Music.' And I'll turn the music on and she'll listen to the music."

Five people were injured in the blaze when they jumped out of the home. They were taken to the hospital but their conditions were no immediately released.

"It's a very tragic day," said Kevin Jacobs, Shaker Heights Fire assistant chief.

Two firefighters were also injured in the fire that engulfed all three floors. They were taken to the hospital but later released.

"Any fatality at any time of year is tragic. We work to save lives so this is very hard for the first responders," Jacobs said.

Bonnie Bistritz lives two streets over. She said the neighborhood started pulling together through Facebook.

"We're a very giving and helpful neighborhood," she said. "Whatever this family needs, we're going to help contribute to."

Neighbors said the family is new to the area, having moved in a few months ago.
