BEACHWOOD, Ohio - Even though it's the winter season, northeast Ohio athletes were still able to get their running, biking and swimming fix.
The Mandel Jewish Community Center in Beachwood hosted its 6th annual indoor triathlon Sunday.
More than 100 experienced triathletes and first-timers of all ages were timed for miles biked, miles ran and swimming laps completed.
There was even friendly competition amongst family members.
"I was just talking to a mother and daughter that were competing," said triathlon chairman Keith Polster. "The daughter beat the mother in the swim and on the bike. The mother was saying 'I am going to beat you in the run.' There is a lot of rivalry amongst families, between families and different groups. It's just a lot of fun."
Special needs children from Jewish Family Services Association also competed against each other in Sunday's event.
Proceeds from the triathlon will help with a wide variety of JCC services including summer camps for kids and meals for the elderly.
