CLEVELAND - Cleveland police officers conducted a traffic stop at 2 a.m. Saturday at the 9900 block of Nicholas. Once officers approached the vehicle; the 21-year-old driver told officers that he had two small children in the backseat.
The driver did not have a license and told officers that the children could be dropped off at a nearby home. When officers knocked on the door of the home, the resident stated that he did not know the driver.
The driver fled on foot leaving a 1 and 8-year-old behind in the car. The children were taken to Jane Edna Hunter center. The family was contacted as well as the Department of Children and Family Services.
A child endangering warrant will be issued for the suspect.
