Man shot at Maple Heights apartments dies

On Monday, around 10:40 a.m., Maple Heights police responded to a report of shots fired and a victim lying down on the ground at the Sunnyslope Apartments.

When officers arrived, they found one man with gunshot wounds. Witnesses stated the suspect left the area in a maroon GMC Jimmy vehicle.

Police said the victim was identified as 22-year-old Ernest Swift. Swift was taken to University Hospitals Bedford Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle that left the scene was identified by witnesses as a 2000 GMC Jimmy, maroon over silver in color, according to police. The vehicle and the driver are wanted by Maple Heights police for involvement in the murder. The driver was described as a black man with blue jeans, and a blue and gray jacket/hoodie.
