Deputies shoot and kill suspect while serving warrant in Middleburg Heights

Only two of the six deputies fired shots

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio - Deputies shot and killed a suspect Tuesday afternoon in Middleburg Heights.

Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office identified 65-year-old Israel Rondon as the man killed in the deputy-involved shooting.
 
According to information gathered by the Ohio Attorney General's Office, six Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputies were serving a warrant on a suspect for a probation violation for assaulting a police officer.
 
Just before 2:40 p.m., the suspect, who was on Sheldon Drive near Ivy Lane, allegedly came outside and fired shots.
 
Only two of the six deputies are believed to have fired their weapons. 

Sources told NewsChannel5 the suspect was then shot and killed by law enforcement while on the back porch of his home.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene. BCI is also investigating.

Agents with the Attorney General's office are conducting interviews Wednesday.
