PARMA, Ohio - The bulldog/boxer mix found starving on the streets of Parma last month has died.
A concerned resident discovered Max on Fruitland Drive in Parma. Parma Animal Control officers said he only weighed 67 pounds, nearly half of what he should weigh. The dog also had a large mass on the side of his jaw that vets said was caused by starvation and abuse.
Parma Animal Control posted on Facebook Tuesday that they took Max to the veterinarian, but he had so much cancer that they had to put him down.
"Thanks to the Parma shelter for everything they did for the big guy," Parma Animal Control said.
Animal control officers said the dog was most likely kept in a cage, and was just skin and bones. Max kept wagging, despite his high fever.
Anyone with information on the owner of the dog should call Parma police or Parma Animal Control.
