PARMA, Ohio - A Parma homeowner was rescued from a fire following a lightning strike Wednesday morning.
Firefighters responded to a call from a resident that lightning hit a pole across the street from her home. Crews found a light haze of smoke in the area and noticed a fire near the electric meter on the back corner of the house in the 8000 block of Ivandale Drive just before 4 a.m.
A firefighter said they went to the front door and could see fire in the same corner, as well as smoke inside the home.
One person inside the home was helped out and the fire was extinguished.
Smoke detectors were present and working, as firefighters took the resident out of the home.
