Lakewood mayor holds monthly meetings with residents to hear concerns

Mayor finds out what's on the minds of residents

LAKEWOOD, Ohio - Lakewood's new mayor is going out of his way to listen to his citizens.

Mayor Michael Summers holds monthly question-and-answer sessions at local businesses. He calls it "Listening to Lakewood."

Tuesday night's session was held at Mahall's 20 Lanes on Madison Avenue. Residents had an opportunity to meet the mayor and discuss their concerns.

Summers said he hears a lot about construction projects, rumors and budgets.

"I think the biggest challenge for us remains right sizing our city to a diminished revenue from the state of Ohio. That's virtually every city in Ohio is facing that challenge and certainly we are too so figuring how to maintain good public services with less revenue is hard work," said Summers.

He enjoys connecting with residents in these casual atmospheres where he is able to find out what's on their minds. They presently have these scheduled for the second Tuesday of every month.
