Hundreds of books will soon be at the fingertips of children across Northeast Ohio.

Monday morning, The FBI Citizens Academy Foundation of Cleveland unveiled eight Little Free Libraries that were given to police departments across our area.

The goal is to encourage reading as well as interaction with police officers.

"This will be a way to bring together children who never had an interaction with a law enforcement officer," said Special Agent In Charge of Cleveland FBI Stephen Anthony.

The little libraries and books were given to the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office, Canton Police Department, Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, Findlay Police Department, Lucas County Sheriff's Office, Mansfield Police Department, New Middletown Police Department and the Sandusky Police Department.

Officers from those departments read to preschool children at FBI headquarters.

"This will dovetail beautifully with what we already do with headstart programs, officers read to the kids,"said Capt. Dave Davis with Canton Police Department.

There are roughly 40,000 Little Free Libraries around the globe.
