SOLON, Ohio - Employees at the Solon wastewater plant discovered the remains of an apparent human fetus Friday.
Solon Police said officers were called to the City of Solon Water Reclamation Department just after 2 p.m. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office and Solon Detective Bureau also responded, according to a news release.
The Medical Examiner's office identified the fetus as non-viable, making it not suspicious, according to administrator Hugh Shannon. The remains are those of a male fetus approximately 15 week along, Shannon said.
Ohio's Safe Haven laws allow birth mothers to turn over unwanted infants to healthcare, police or fire authorities without consequences, the news release said.
The Solon Police Department asks anyone with information on the identity of the mother to contact the detective bureau at 440-248-1234.
