Heart disease and strokes continue to scourge Ohio communities, and some residents have had enough.

The American Heart Association held their annual Heart Walk in downtown Cleveland on Saturday. Locals flocked to Lakeside Avenue to join the organization in walking to raise funds and awareness for the cardiovascular disease.

The organization provided attendees with educational materials, nutritional information, entertainment and free giveaways. Heart Walk participants could also purchase a torch for $10 to be a part of the opening ceremonies.

American Heart Association claims that 2,200 people die every day from cardiovascular diseases, making it the leading cause of death in the United states. There are about 1.5 million heart attacks and strokes suffered by Americans each year.
