BEREA, Ohio - A fuel tank leak outside a CVS pharmacy in Berea forced customers and employees from the store on Tuesday.
Berea police said the leak was reported around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of Bagley Road and Rocky River Drive.
Berea fire officials said a contractor filled up his box truck with fuel in Strongsville and drove to the store, where the gas tank fell onto the ground.
Fuel went to a low part of the parking lot, but did not enter the sewer system so the Ohio EPA did not have to respond to the scene, fire officials said. However, the EPA was notified.
It took fire crews about two hours to clean up the leak. Firefighters said the gasoline was removed with 148 bags of oil absorbent.
The store was closed because winds were blowing the fumes back towards it. The CVS and area roads are back open.
No one was injured during the incident.
