Funeral arrangements set for Cracker Barrel shooting victim Kayla Allen

CLEVELAND - Funeral arrangements for 10-year-old Kayla Allen, who died Tuesday after being critically injured in the Brooklyn Cracker Barrel shooting April 12 by her father that killed her mother and her sister, have been set for Monday.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on May 21 at Grace Christian & Missionary Alliance Church on Pearl Road in Middleburg Heights. The family said Kayla will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be given to:

Hospice of the Western Reserve
c/o Pediatric Services
300 E. 185th St.
Cleveland, Ohio 44119

Kayla died Tuesday surrounded by family at her aunt Michelle and uncle Carl Jindra's home. She had been in hospice care since May 11.

On Kayla's memorial Facebook page, a family member wrote this when Kayla passed away:

Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."

A pair of fundraisers are still scheduled. One will be held at Barbarino's Restaurant in Columbia Station from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday. Another fundraising event will take place at two Applebee's locations on Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can download a flyer by following this link: http://on.wews.com/K5VTZq.

Family members said they will update Kayla's memorial Facebook page again when they decide what organization they will donate the money to.

Police said Kayla's father, Kevin Allen, 51, opened fire inside the Brooklyn Cracker Barrel, killing her mom, Kate, 42, and sister, Kerri, 10. Officers shot and killed Kevin as he was leaving the restaurant when he didn't comply with orders to surrender.
