The east side community is pulling together in the wake of a murder at Brennan's Colony restaurant on Lee Road Monday.
“We just knew we couldn't sit back and do nothing, so I just started sketching a design,” said Brady Dindia, a University Heights resident who visits Brennan's once a week with her girlfriends.
Dindia and a friend have started selling t-shirts to raise money for the Cedar Lee Road Merchants Association in honor of Jim Brennan, the restaurant's owner who was gunned down.
“I started doing it and thought of 'We are Family,' the song, and it made sense right away,” said Shannon Morris, Dindia's fundraising partner.
The shirts say “We are a Colony” They are selling for $15 through Saturday. You can find out more information on their Facebook page .
Two other women have started an online fundraiser for the employees of Brennan's. All 30 of them have been out of work since Monday's murder.
The organizer's had a goal of raising $25,000, which would be two weeks worth of wages for the employees. But in 24 hours, they exceeded that goal.
