Fun things to do in Cleveland 4th of July weekend: Fireworks, festivals and more

CLEVELAND - Independence Day is right around the corner. Plan out your holiday weekend and experience some of the great events and activities Cleveland has to offer.

Indians vs Royals

What better way to celebrate Independence Day then taking the family to a ballpark to watch America's pastime? The Cleveland Indians open up a three-game weekend series against division foe Kansas City Royals on Friday. It'll be Sugardale Dollar Dog Night and there will be an extended version of fireworks shot off after the game. So head on down to Progressive Field and make a family night out of it. Red, White and Brew Festival

The Greater Cleveland Aquarium is hosting its annual Red, White and Brew Festival  on Friday night. Starting at 6 p.m. families and sea animal lovers alike can check out all the exhibits, listen to live music and enjoy delicious food. Fireworks over the Cuyahoga River will conclude the evening as bright covers light up the sky. Tickets are $10 for kids and $25 for adults.

Akron Rib, White and Blue Festival

Craving some ribs this holiday? Head on over to South Main Street in Downtown Akron for the annual Rib, White and Blue Festival . This heavily anticipated summer tradition features the biggest and baddest rib vendors from all across the United States, each competing for bragging rights of having the best tasting ribs. In addition to sinking your teeth into juicy ribs, enjoy the beautiful weather, listen to live music and watch some fireworks to celebrate Independence Day. So head on down to South Main Street in front of Lock 3 anytime between now and Saturday night for your chance to enjoy some world class ribs.

Celebrate Independence Day

Whether you are off on vacation or simply grilling in the backyard, get out and enjoy the 4th of July.
