STRONGSVILLE, Ohio - Flood cleanup companies are swamped with business after Monday night's storms left basements full of water.
Gary Blakeney, owner of 911 Restoration in Middleburg Heights, said the calls started coming in around 7 p.m. Monday.
"I had probably ten floods every five minutes and right now we're up to 265 water damages," he said. "It's raining money."
One of the homeowners on his list Tuesday was Russ Wurst.
"This was the man cave," he said. "Last night it became the underwater marine cave."
Water gushed out of the downstairs toilet and shower, leaving about six inches throughout the basement and damaging everything in its path.
"Things were floating in here," he said.
Blakeney recommends homeowners who have frequent flooding invest in a backflow preventer to keep the water from backing up into the house. It's expensive, but so is flood damage.
"It's worth it," he said.
