Just two days after several Strongsville schools were closed, school officials found another threat of violence.
The federal mediator assigned to the Strongsville City Schools Board of Education (BOE) and Strongsville Education Association (SEA) negotiations has called a meeting for 7 pm on Monday, March 11, at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) regional office in Independence to determine the status of negotiations.
This will be an exploratory meeting including the Strongsville City Schools superintendent and board representative as well as the teachers' union state representative and SEA president.
"We will continue to keep the community informed as the mediation process continues," said John Krupinski, school superintendent.
All preschools, elementary schools and the high school were closed Monday in Strongsville after a bomb threat.
The principal of Chapman Elementary School in Strongsville is asking the community to be on the lookout for vandals who've been targeting the school and destroying property.
Families in Strongsville are hoping the fresh start of a new school year will remove the bitter taste from a teachers' strike that divided the community last spring.
