Aug. 8 marked the 39-year anniversary of the disappearance of 17-year-old Yvonne Regler, and new details have been uncovered that could lead to answers as to what happened to the teen on that day in 1977.

Police said on Aug. 8, 1977, Regler went to work at the Sunoco gas station at 18990 Lorain Road. Around noon that day, co-workers brought Regler lunch and left. At approximately 1 p.m., Regler's relief arrived at the gas station and could not find her. Her purse, books and half eaten lunch were left behind along with money from the business.

Regler has not been seen or heard from since that day, authorities said.

Fairview Park police have worked on this case since it began. The department has spent the years working with local, county, state and federal agencies to learn more about what happened to Regler.

Police said they recently interviewed more than 20 family members, friends, witnesses and persons of interest in the case. They also reviewed all available case files and evidence regarding Regler's disappearance.

In 2014, a family member contacted the Fairview Park Police Department, offering to give DNA to the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.

Police looked at the case file and decided to interview all surviving witnesses and family members.

Although a couple persons of interest developed, the case remains unsolved.
