An Eastlake man said he was left shocked after a trip to the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Vine Street in Eastlake.

The shopper said he was buying Sugardale goose liver for his dog, after his veterinarian suggested he wrap medicine in the form of a pill for the dog in goose liver.

But, the man said he couldn't believe his eyes when he picked up the packaged meat and clearly saw the best buy date of 06/03/2013.

He didn't buy the meat, but took a picture of the label.

He said he noticed about 20 other similar packaged meats had the same 2013 date.

The man told a Wal-Mart worker who said they were sorry it happened, and would notify a manager.

The man said he couldn't believe no one at Wal-Mart noticed the old date before stocking the shelves.

Monday afternoon Walmart returned our calls.

A Walmart spokesperson said they believed the goose liver package was mislabeled by the supplier, but they threw out all of the packages to be safe.

Anyone who purchased the meat can return it for a refund.

A spokesperson for Sugardale said the mislabeled goose liver package was the result of human error.

Sugardale said they're notifying all stores that have the mislabeled lunch meat to throw it out, eventhough they believe the lunch meat is safe.

Walmart said they believed the meat was safe, but the label had a misprint.
