A fence designed to keep crooks out of a Cleveland apartment complex is actually upsetting the neighbors it was supposed to help. Seniors and disabled people living at the Euclid Beach Villa Apartments at E. 156th St. and Lakeshore Blvd. called NewsChannel 5 about the problem.
The chain link fence is blocking a wheelchair ramp on the northwest side of the building, adjacent to E. 156th St, that many residents use as a shortcut to get to their neighborhood pharmacy and a bus stop.
Neighbors told NewsChannel 5 the fence was installed to stop a string of catalytic converter thefts, but it’s also making lifer harder for them.
Now, we have to go all the way around to go to Walgreens in the cold that’s coming and in the snow that’s coming and it’s not right,” resident Sonya Evans said.
Property managers on site declined to answer questions. Neighbors said they’d like to see a gate installed in the fence.
