Cuyahoga County jury finds Parma man not guilty on rape, kidnapping charges

Prosecutors dropped additional charges

CLEVELAND - A 50-year-old Parma man has been found not guilty of rape and kidnapping charges.

Ralph C. Hughes was originally charged in  August after Parma Heights police arrested him on allegations that he raped a woman and her 14-year-old daughter.

A Cuyahoga County jury returned the not guilty verdicts Friday following a trial that began Feb. 13.

The jury was hung on a gross sexual imposition charge and failed to return a verdict.

Prosecutors dismissed additional charges against Hughes before the trial began, including domestic violence, aggravated menacing and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

Hughes is a 911 dispatcher in Cuyahoga County
