1 dead after water rescue at Wildwood Park

CLEVELAND -
One man has died after being pulled from Lake Erie at Wildwood Park Monday night.

Around 8 p.m. the Coast Guard was notified that two people went missing after jumping off a fishing pier near Wildwood Marina.

A Coast Guard boat crew found the individuals and helped pull them from the water. One of the victims was in full arrest and the other was conscious and breathing, authorities said.

The boat crew immediately started performing CPR on the person that was unresponsive.

According to EMS, both victims were taken to Hillcrest Hospital. One of the men, identified as 21-year-old Demarios Eatman, died at the hospital, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner said Tuesday.

There was no immediate word how the men ended up in the water.

Emergency crews want to stress that even though air temperatures were in the 80s, Lake Erie's water temperature is still only in the 50s.
