President of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association Steve Loomis has been for suspended six days following a physical confrontation he had with another officer Oct. 16, according to a letter by the Department of Public Safety.
Loomis, who is a detective, repeatedly shouted vulgarities at the officer. He pleaded not guilty to the initial charges placed against him. He issued a statement on the suspension on Thursday afternoon:
"This is an off duty family matter. Out of respect for my daughter and granddaughter I will have no comment regarding the incident between my granddaughters father and myself which led to this discipline. The appropriate appeals have been filed."
Loomis is ordered to turn his department-issued gun, badge and police identification card.
